Kids at the Character Breakfast

This day was pretty funny.  Or not.  We had reservations for a character breakfast.  Sophie was so excited.  Noah was not.  In fact, he was pretty unhappy about it.  He was a little embarrassed, but to his credit, ended up being a good sport.  Even though he didn't have to, he smiled and posed.  Look at these pictures but keep reading at the end.

In the middle of breakfast, we looked up and Noah was scratching his face and arms and had big hives rapidly popping up all over him.  We knew there was peanut butter on the buffet right next to the butter and cream cheese, and we didn't think we got near it.  We didn't think any of the muffins or bread had nuts, but you can never be sure.  So Noah and David left breakfast quickly and quickly got to the resort infirmary.  We had an Epi-Pen with us just in case.  We needed some benadryl.

As we were sitting waiting for the nurse, and as David was trying to make Noah laugh, it became obvious what happened.  He didn't eat peanuts. He was allergic to the Sesame Street characters. Perhaps their costumes weren't the cleanest?  But he had hives only on exposed skin where he touched them.   So all of his moping about having to go to Character Breakfast turned out in the end to be, well, justified!  And for the rest of the week, whenever the characters were around, Noah would proudly say, I can't hug you...I'm allergic to you!!
