Pre-Birthday, France and Yogurt

The end of Noah's Kindergarten year was amazing!  He got to celebrate his summer birthday at school.  He was pretty happy, and Kathy got to come to class that day.

I think you're older than 1!!
Noah's class did a fantastic show about France.  Noah was  one of the leads.  Here he is dressed  as a little french boy.  He absolutely shined in this.
Hopefully you can hear this movie (Sophie in the background and all!) as Noah started out the class show.  Make sure the sound is up on your computer.
Back at home we were practicing face painting with yogurt.
Ahh...now that's easier.
Pigtails!  Sort of.

Noah and Sophie adore each other (except early in the morning!).  It is so wonderful watching them play and laugh together.  Smile!

Phillies time

David has a patient who gave him 2 tickets to the Phillies-Dodgers game June 6, so he and Noah went to the game for some Father-Son baseball fun.
It was a clear, warm night and we were ready for a great time!

First, hot dogs and pretzels.

And Cotton Candy
Playing a base running game in the back.  You run in place as fast as you can and your player runs the bases on the big board overhead.  Noah ran fast but he doesn't weigh enough, so the pad didn't seem to register all his steps.

After that work out, how about a pint of chocolate ice cream?

Did we mention there was a baseball game going on?

Turns out we saw 4 home runs (Jimmy RollinsShane Victorino and Ty Wiggintonhomered for the Phillies), and we stayed til the end of the 6th inning. It was getting pretty late and we were both tired - but not hungry.  The Dodgers ended up winning, but we had a great time.

A star is born

David was driving home from work one Saturday morning, and heard an add on the radio: "If your child always wanted to be on TV, call this number and if you're one of the first callers, they will be invited to audition".  So David called quickly, and Noah was invited to "audition" for something called "THE EVENT".  We didn't really know what it was about, but on the following Saturday night, we all went into to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Philadelphia for an audition.

See how good he is?  Here Noah is acting crazy!

We were brought into a large ballroom and sat for 1 1 /2 hours.  The audition included meeting with a Talent Scout for "The Event" and being filmed for a couple of minutes reading a few lines.  Noah was fantastic.  He charmed the rather stern and somewhat mean talent scout ("Miss Chen") and was so good reading his lines on the screen.  The kids were being filmed behind a curtain but this was projected on a giant screen at the front of the room.  I filmed a short clip below before getting yelled at...you weren't allowed to film.
Definitely a star is born.  It turns out "The Event" is essentially a talent show in Orlando (having nothing to do with Disney).  You could pay to take your child, and at the talent show would be many talent scounts.  But first you had to get a "call back" to see if you were one of the 5 or 6 kids in your age group selected to go to The Event.  Indeed Noah got a call back.  Unfortunately, we are not able to travel to Orlando for this show.  Maybe next time.  Noah so much wants to be on TV; maybe this was his big start!

Back at home everyone is practicing making silly faces.

Kathy's colleague and friend Matt came over for a cook out on Memorial day with their kids Kyle and Ryan, and everyone had a ball.  Our Jeep easily turned into a 3 seater.  Check out the little Princess in the front!

And putting on a show.
Happy Memorial Day!

Finally it was time to plant our pumpkins.  You'll notice we put up a fence this year to keep the deer out.  Sophie was a big helping.

We went to the pool on Memorial day in the afternoon.  Sophie likes to walk around and check everyone out!
It was a long day.  Ready for bed everyone!

Thanks for reading to everyone Noah.
More to come!

Sports time!

There have been lots of summer sports at the Porter house:  Noah just finished his T ball season.  He was on The Bats.  He made some nice friends on his team too.

Team picture from the last day.  Noah is right in the middle sitting straight up.

This is  Coach McCarthy presenting Noah with the Game Ball from the last game of the season!  We were pretty proud of Noah.

As part of getting the Game Ball, Noah got to give out the tickets to his team for treats at the snack bar.

He got a medal for playing a great a season.

Noah and his #1 FAN!  Sophie went to every game and was the best cheerleader!
Sophie already loves sports.  Maybe she'll be a race car driver!

In our free time, there's a little swinging.  This is probably one of the last pictures of Sohpie swinging in the "baby swing".  Even since we took this picture,  she now only likes the big kid swing (right side of picture).

This past year Noah really learned to swim.   But this early summer, something happened and he turned into a little fish!  He loves the goggles, and now swims, dives down, jumps and everything.

Back to T Ball.  Check out this video.  "Batter Up!"

Sophie loves T ball too though.  She's doesn't play formally yet, but I'll take her on my team anytime!
Look at that swing!  Check out the video

But this isn't just a one sport family.  Soon we're going to have a family soccer game.  Check it out.
See you all on the field!

Love Noah and Sophie.

Visiting Family

We went to Avon on Mother's Day.  Nanny and her younger grandchildren.

Noah and Sophie got put to work helping Nanny and Poppy, and Uncle Peter and Uncle Jimmy re-do the front bed.  They helped...for a little while.

Good thing all the grandkids were there!

The Sophie Sisters hung out together a lot.

Then it was back home for some play time for a few days.

Tickle those toes!

Guess what Noah is teaching Sophie to do?

How nice.

The next trip several days later was to Kentucky for Memorial day weekend.  At the airport, getting ready.
Evan was teaching Sophie how to ride a scooter.

Just hanging out with Cousin Josh early in the morning.

On the way home, Noah got to fly the plane.  (Well not really, but he got to push a couple buttons).  What a fun trip.
