Noah and Sophie go to NYC October 2013

We took a trip to NYC last month and had a great time.  David was at a conference at the Waldorf Astoria, so Kathy and the kids came to meet him on Friday.   We went to dinner at a great little italian restaurant near the hotel.  Noah ate spaghetti, and Sophie ate all the meatballs in the restaurant!

Then for dessert we went to Dylan's Candy Bar.   What a store!  3 stories of every kind of candy you can imagine.  Shame Noah and Sophie don't like candy (hah!)

We lost Sophie for a minute or two.  But we knew just where to look for her!

We think this is the worlds biggest gum ball machine!

Upstairs is is an ice cream bar.  Of course we had to have ice cream.

Sophie was having a ball.
The next day we go up early went to see the Intrepid Aircraft carrier.

This is where you sit to on the starboard side when you bring the ship into port.  It's the only place on the ship that can see from front to back.

And look who's steering the aircraft carrier!

The Space Shuttle Enterprise is kept on the deck on the Intrepid (that tells you how big the aircraft carrier is)  The space shuttle was really cool and the kids loved it.

A new thing on the streets of NY is that all different characters are roaming the street.  They are ALL OVER.  Mickey, Minnie, Sesame Street characters...  After you take a picture, they have a little pouch and ask you for money.  Literally ask.  Sophie said "Dad, I thought Mickey didn't talk?"   And this Mickey had a little bit of an accent.  We gave Mickey a dollar and MInnie asked for one too.
A special treat was that Uncle Jimmy and Auntie Marci were in NYC and met us for lunch
Then the highlight of the weekend--we went to see the Lion King!  Sophie loved it and still talks about it.
Sophie loved it!  She is still talking about it.

Noah, despite looking so handsome, wasn't so sure.  He gave it a "fair".

And not so happy getting his picture taken.

What great experience.  Their first Broadway show.
After the show we went to "Ripley's Believe it or Not" museum. Here is Noah and Sophie next to a figure of the worlds tallest man.

Sophie popping like magic!

This is an image of Sophie (left) and Kathy (right) dancing in front of screen that picks them up and makes them look like cartoons!

We had a great time!  Hope to go to NYC again soon!

Company and the Pumpkin Fair

Auntie Marci, Uncle Jimmy, Nanny and Poppy came to visit us for a weekend.  We had a fun time.  Not many pictures taken, but a fun time.

Some help with your shoes, Sophie?

Noah's school, Friend's Central, had a Pumpkin Fair.  There was all sorts of fun things to do, including eating alot of cupcakes, cookies, and other great snacks!

There were games to play and Sophie loved it..

Outside was the Pumpkin decorating

And more games.

And face painting.  This is the beginning of a little butterfly.

Then Sophie walked the tight rope with the silly clown.
It was a long day.  Back home for a book and then bedtime....  Good night.

Building, painting, riding and playing

The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot has a kids project.  We went once or twice when Noah was little.  A few weeks ago we found ourselves in Home Depot and the project was building and painting a plane.   Noah built this pretty much on his own, hammer, nails, and all.

Sophie had a little help with the hammer and nails but painted her plane a really pretty purple all by herself.

Do you recognize either of these two?  The lower one is the real Noah.  The upper one is a self portrait he drew at school.

And Sophie is becoming a good artist too!

Sophie and Noah were invited to Scarlett's Birthday party at  a horse farm.  They rode horses and got to brush them down afterwards.  Just watch where you're stepping Sophie!

Meanwhile, Team Columbia is doing great this year.  That's Noah standing up in the back.  Everyone on the team got orange headbands.
Lots of building, playing and riding this fall.  Stay tuned for more fun times!

Fall, In Full Swing

Fall is in full swing.  We are continuing our tradition of bike riding every Sunday after Noah's Sunday School.   Last week we went almost 4 miles!

Sophie just bosses David around: "Go faster!"

Of course no bike ride is complete without stopping for a snack.

Some rock hopping out to the middle of the creek.

And we alwas make time for Sophie to ride her own bike.
Noah has been a part of "Kol Shalom".  This is the kids choir at our temple.  Noah and David when to Simchat Torah services where the choir sang. Then they unroll the whole torah around the sanctuary so they can re-roll it back to the beginning.

Meanwhile, back at home, Sophie loves to shave in the morning with David
We went apple picking at Linvilla.   It was easier for some to get the "low hanging fruit!"

Pick one, eat one.

The "Makin' Music" people were there.  Sophie loves this and hoped right up and got into the show.

Halloween is coming

More pictures soon.
