Adirondacks for July 4

We had a great July 4th weekend.  We got in the car on Thursday and drove to upstate New York.  We went to the Adirondacks to spend the weekend with David's college friends Steve Hanes and Steve Frodey and their families.  We stayed Thursday night in Saratoga and then up early and breakfast in a small town restaurant on the way to the mountains.

Crazy car ride with Crazy people.
Steve and Dotty have a house in Essex, right on Lake Champlain.  It's a tiny little town and we made it for the 4th of July parade.
Noah and "Hanes" watching the parade.

Sophie and Dotty when for a walk to get some balloons.

Parts of the parade were loud.

Throwing rocks in Lake Champlain

Dinner at a little restaurant.
We had a campfire at Hane's cabin.  First we had to collect the wood.

Toasting marshmallows and making S'mores.

And of course eating them!

The next day we went on a great hike. We climbed South Bouquet mountain with great views of the Lake.  Us with Dotty and Steve, And Steve, Meg and Brian Frodey

A little rest on the trail

Almost at the top!
WOW!  Check out those views. It's just like Daddy remembered.  A little picnic and rest at the top.

And back down again....
After the hike we were all hot and found a great river to go swimming in. Check out the white water in the background  Noah with Hanes.

And even Sophie went in the river.

Back in Essex, what's a small town 4th of July without ice cream??

On Saturday we took the ferry boat to Burlington VT.

One of our favorite pictures in Burlington.

Back home on the ferry; "I'm the Queen of the world!"

July 4th fireworks over the lake

Hane's lake house.

Bye to the cat and the Adirondacks.  We'll be back soon!  Thanks Hanes for a great trip.
